Realmente no leí este libro. Tenía algunos problemas visuales que me impedían leer durante un tiempo. Madonnas of Leningrad fue nuestra elección del club de lectura para el mes de enero y no estaba disponible en audio.
Le pedí a mi hermana Jane, que se estaba quedando conmigo durante las vacaciones, si me lo leería y me contaría al respecto. Le encanta leer y pensé que lo disfrutaría.
Una cosa hermosa sucedió. Mi hermana me contó la historia con tanto detalle y con tanta emoción que los personajes se me hicieron reales. A ella le encantó el libro y a mí también. Durante sus sesiones de narración de historias derramamos lágrimas mientras me guiaba a través de las escenas de Leningrado y el Museo del Hermitage durante el asedio nazi. Juntas, nos conmovió mucho la fuerza de las mujeres de la historia.
Mi hermana ha pasado por momentos difíciles recientemente y en su búsqueda de sanación ha estado considerando formas en las que puede servir a su comunidad en Alabama.
